About This Spot

Stepping into Taqueria Guadalajara on 24th Street feels like a momentary pause from the city's usual rush — a casual, unpretentious corner where the pace slows just enough to savor something genuine. Brightly painted murals and simple wooden tables invite a sense of familiarity, as if you’ve found a spot beloved by locals who come as much for the welcoming atmosphere as for the food.

The space hums quietly with conversation, the occasional laughter cutting through the easy clatter of dishes and silverware, creating an inviting buzz without ever feeling hurried. There’s a warmth here, not just from the kitchen, but from the friendly rhythm of quick, attentive service that reminds you the people behind the counter know what their regulars crave, and are happy to share it with newcomers alike.

At Taqueria Guadalajara, food is an experience rooted in honest, straightforward flavors—a comforting kind of celebration. The menu, centered around fresh corn tortillas and carefully prepared meats, lends itself to those moments where the simple joy of a well-made taco can transport you. The kitchen’s offerings, from flavorful pastor to richly seared tripas, speak to tradition without overcomplication, letting each bite carry its own vivid story of craftsmanship and care.

The salsa bar, modest but thoughtfully stocked, adds a personal touch to the meal. It invites diners to explore and customize each plate with sauces that range from mild to daring — a humble luxury that turns every visit into a small discovery. Complimentary chips shared among friends or coworkers form the opening act to the main event: food that’s deeply satisfying without fuss.

Whether you’re dropping in for a quick bite during a busy day or settling in for a quiet lunch, Taqueria Guadalajara offers an atmosphere that feels grounded and approachable. It’s less about spectacle and more about the simple human moments — enjoying a meal crafted with care, surrounded by the everyday stories of a neighborhood still quietly thriving in the heart of San Francisco.

I stopped there because I was running some errands in the area and checked Google to look at the reviews for the place since I was in a rush to get back to the office. My coworker and I bought two delicious meals. The service was very friendly, quick, and efficient. We got to the office and enjoyed a delicious lunch. I had a super burrito and it was delicious

We came to 24th street to see if we can find a great Mex restaurant and we did. This place is nothing fancy, but the food is fantastic. The shrimp taco was one of the best I have had... Great combination of flavour and spice. Service is also very good and the salsa bar is a big bonus. come up and help yourself with any of the salsas they have to go along with the complimentary chips. Great place.

Tacos are decent here, the tripas (beef stomach) has a nice sear to it, cabeza (meat off the head) has some nice fat to it. Shrimp tacos are a bit upsetting though, not great produce with too much green bell pepper, really shouldn't be on the menu, stick to the real meats. The murals and decor have a nice and simple nostalgic vibe to them. Service isn't particularly patient for foreigners like me who doesn't know what they're ordering so if you're a taco novice and don't speak Spanish this might not be the best place to start.

They give you free chips and have a small salsa bar! Some people say the salsa can be hit or miss, but when we went, it was mostly good, although a few containers were empty. We tried the super burrito with pastor meat, and it was amazing. The burrito tasted fantastic, and the pastor meat was cooked perfectly. We also got two quesabirrias, and they were just as good. The birria was yummy, and they even gave us extra soup in a cup, which was a nice surprise.
